Frederick Brendling 1861 and 1871 censuses
« on: Wednesday 07 April 21 16:33 BST (UK) »
Hello there

I am struggling to find Frederick Brendling and his wife Ann (nee Gover) in the 1861 and 1871 censuses.  Ann died in late November 1861 in Kennington and was buried in the Victoria Park Cemetery 21 Nov 1861

They married 2 Jul 1844 at Stepney St Dunstan.  In the 1851 census they were living in Tower Hamlets in London with three children:
Frederick Henry Q1 1845 Whitechapel
Ann Elizabeth Q2 1846 Whitechapel
John George Q3 1849 Norton Folgate

Looking at the GRO I can see that they also had:
Walter Q4 1853
Harriet Jane Q4 1855
Mary Ann & Henry Q4 1859
All these were registered in Wesminster Registration District

Frederick senior died late in 1871 and was buried on 5 December at Victoria Park Cemetery, but is address at the time of death was 28 Fairfield Grove in Lower Kennington.

Can anyone help with the censuses please?

Thanks in advance

the same seems to lend itself to mistranscription. That must be him, can't be too many flute makers.

Ann married Frederick Smith 8 August 1864 in Lambeth. Haven't spotted her as yet in 1871.

the family that Mary is visiting in 1871 would appear to siblings of Frederick

1841 census father John is a musical instrument maker

Thanks Everyone - that is fantastic!

I also can't find his son John in the 1881 and 1901 if anyone wants to play more  ;D

Born 1849 with wife Elizabeth Jane b 1850.  By that time children:
Ann Elizabeth 1870 Wandsworth
John 1871Wandsworth
Harriett 1873 Lambeth
Henry 1874 Lambeth
Beatrice 1876 Clerkenwell
George 1878 Westminster

The family was transfered from Lambeth to Stepney Workhouse in June 1871 and by 1891 they are in St Margaret's Court in Southwark

Thanks again

Ashley
