 "Assification of blood vessels and general decay" is the cause of death on a copy of an 1866 death certificate, can anyone clarify what that means, please.

Could it be Ossification?

Unfortunately the copy cert I have is typewritten so it could be a misspelling, but I thought ossification referred to the bones. The person concerned was 81 and died in the workhouse.
