Postcard writing
« on: Thursday 08 April 21 15:47 BST (UK) »
Hi all. I attach an image of a postcard which, when I try and translate the left hand side, just makes no sense!! It could be words are misspelled but what does it read like to you?

Thank you in advance!

MJ
Fouldes.<br />Any area where our family are.  My branch started around Derbyshire, Nott's and Yorkshire.  We ended up in South Lincolnshire!  So yay!  Course any area with Fouldes in would help!  See my family tree below for what gaps I have!  Cheers!

Would also like to see any Beaumont's from Sheffield as I have lots of family photos & can't identify them!!

My dear Maud
Thank you for your kind letter.
It was all (w)right and did not expect it but
I didn't know how you off
Hoping you are quite well
You would be surprised to see how little Milly gets on
With best love from Nellie

My assumption is that the letter perhaps contained money, that Nellie didn't expect, as she didn't know how well off Maud was.

I think the last line is
‘ with best love from Nellie’ i.e. as IgorStrav has transcribed

Thank you all. That looks like it is right - or should that be "Wright"!? ;)

Am I guessing these dates correct? Like on this one the post mark says "AU 15 06" So I assumed it was August 15th 1906.

Would anyone know who is on the census for the address 74 South Street, Moor, Sheffield in 1901 and 1911?

I know by the 1911 census my great grandmother Alice Maud had moved in with her Aunt and Uncle but I wondered if she was living with relatives at the 74 South Street address?

I know my relative was at this address on a postcard Post Marked Sheffield Oct 2nd 1909, but a couple of weeks later she had moved to 210 North Field Rd, Crookes, Sheffield. (According to another postcard Post Marked Sheffield Oct 18th 1909)

I am curious as to whether she is staying with relatives or not.

Thanks
MJ

Hi another postcard, written in pencil. It was a birthday card from my Great grandfather to his wife/future wife.

I can see it starts with:
"Dear Sweetheart, I will write you a letter tomorrow."
I cannot make out the rest until:
"Yours forever, Jack Fouldes"

Can anyone else make it out?  Thank you!

MJ
