What is the surname of Joahna on her mothers death certificate

If Barbara was McBeath & Johanna her daughter - presumably she was born Johanna McBeath.

I don't know what timescale is involved but have you looked on SP for a marriage for her?

Yes Johana is the daughter of Barbara MacKay married to Murdoch McBeath Johana was born 1848

Barbara b 1812 died 8 .9 .1872 to Donald MacKay and Elizabeth Matheson I have Barbara's death certificate but no more on this couple

I have looked for a marriage on S/P for Johana but thought if I could get the correct surname I could move further into the family note some families had her as the son Johan I had too until I got Barbara's death certificate where it says daughter

The 1861 shows her b Strathy Sutherland & SP birth reg shows her as Johana

The only marriage I can see on SP was to Murdo McLennan in 1867 but that signature doesn’t look like McLennan

The McBeath/McKay marriage was 1844.  In 1851 there is just Murdoch & 3 children including Johan aged 3 but no Barbara. 

In 1851 she is shown as Barbara McKay b 1813 with mother Betty Mathison age 60 - both b Farr Sutherland

Could she still be McBeath?  There is a Johan McBeath death in 1928 Leith aged 79
