George WINDMIER 1829-1894

George was buried in the Kimbolton Cemetery in Dec 1894 aged 65, with that spelling for his surname. Have also seen it as WINDINEIR, so European I am guessing.

Can't find his death registration, or anything else for him for that matter. Nothing on Archway or Paperspast either.

Have tried various spellings but nothing.

Where are you seeing the burial details.  If it is a headstone, it would be useful to see an image.

If that is all you know about him, why are you interested in him at all.

Some more information would be useful.

The spelling for "Windineir" is on Ancestry for the NZ Cemetery records.   G. Windineir was the purchaser. Whoever typed the information for the Cemetery Book, had put a question mark next to the name.  Putting this up for those that come along to help.

Going out on a limb here ... that Catholic was mentioned makes me suspect Netherland as the first country of birth; then Germany / Belgium in particular with that surname.

So name could be George, Georg, Joerg, Jorg, or sometimes noted as just Geo.


Have you contacted the council to ask for any further records?  Naturalisation records microfiche?  Shipping records.  All might shed light on DOB / DOD, name spelling which might help


ADDED: Also Windmeyer as a surname option; Windmeier too.  Van Meyer?  Van Meier?
