Thomas Davie Augusta Minell Sunderland to USA

I am very much in need of help again.

Thomas Davie was born in Sunderland, Durham, England in 1849, son of James Davie and Mary Scott.
Thomas is living with his parents in Sunderland on the 1861 and 1871 census but then disappears.
The next record I can find is a marriage record in the USA details of which I have posted below.

I have been unable to find any other records of Thomas either before or after his marriage and would very much appreciate any help.

I made an error in my first post and it should read I have only found Thomas on the 1851 and 1861 census but that does not mean he was not still in England in 1871 and this could very well be him.
The spelling of Davie was spelt differently many times over the years.

Thos Davy arrived in New York on the City of Paris 8 Sep 1874, age 25.  Occupation listed as farmer.

The 1880 Mortality Schedule for New York in the Ancestry database
U.S. Census Mortality Schedules,
New York,New York, 1850-1880
It listed all the people who had died in New York within the period of the census (1st Jun 1879-31 May 1880)

Has an Augusta 'Davies', aged 28, married, who had died in August 1879, says she was born in NY and her parents both born Germany.

Not writ in stone, but may be worth bearing in mind when searching for Thomas in the US census returns as IF its his wife, he may be listed as with a different wife or as a widower.

Certainly explains why I couldn't find a Thomas and August in the Census returns from 1880 onwards.

I think this may well be Thomas' wife. I am not sure what I am doing incorrect re my searches. I have found the mortality record after being pointed in the right direction but have not had a hit on the immigration record on FindMyPast.
I now wonder if he was working as a farmer away from the Durham area in 1871 and will also look at the possibility of him returning to England on his own.
I would have a lot more brick walls than I do have if it were not for this site, so thank you once again.
