1901 shows him as Thomas H.  Marriage in 1902 shows him as Thomas Herbert

Was there a fathers name on his marriage cert?

On the marriage his father is Thomas Brown, independent man. Annie Metcalfe is a witness.

His death registration has his name as   Tom H Metcalfe the same as his birth reg and baptism so I would be using that name in your family tree with Thomas as an alternative/suffix.
Death Age - 88
Birth about 1879
Registration Date April 1967
Registration District - Buckrose Yorkshire East Riding

Wondering if this is Jane in 1881, given the interestingly named grandchild. Not sure where Thomas is

John Metcalf    58 - farmer of 80 acres
Jane Metcalf    58
Jane Metcalf    25 - unmarried
John Metcalf    27
J.R. Brown Metcalf    5 - grandson
Annie Dowsland    17
William Stephinson    17
Christopher Lyons    19

RG11; 4807; 54; 8;

The grandson is John RIchard Brown Metcalf - again no mmn on the birth registration
