Pegge family in Transvaal or Natal
« on: Sunday 11 April 21 12:54 BST (UK) »
I'm confused about what BMD records are available in South Africa; several links I've tried to follow either lead me round in circles or cause the computer to lock up.

Eric Evelyn Pegge (b. in GB 1897) was farming in the Transvaal.
In 1939 he married (in Durban) Dulcie May Lilian Long who I think was born in 1909 and was living in Pietermaritzburg in 1993.  Can anyone please find their deaths for me?
Perhaps also a birth for Dulcie?

You could try find Dulcies info using Identitynumber.org. You have to buy credits to view the info. I got this far on the site https://www.m.identitynumber.org/dn-name-surname-results.php

Thanks, Pampoen.

Not mine at Stellawood, unfortunately.
The 1982 is uncertain: I was hoping to have it confirmed or refuted!

Perhaps also a birth for Dulcie?

ON 04 Dec 1907 Henry Bethell LONG marries Ruby Lilian NUTMAN in Durban, Natal (Civ Reg: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-6QQS-LNB). Ruby dies in 1965 (Civ Reg: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-C91K-C8VW), but it is Henry’s 1966 death that is more interesting as his residence is the same as Dulcie’s when she gets married in 1939 (Civ reg: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-C91M-Y459-6).

The 1911 birth of a son Gwynne Henry Bethell LONG can be found among the Durban birth index and registers (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QHV-J38J-TL4K), but unfortunately this series is far from complete. It misses all the births for 1909 and this includes Dulcie’s 6 Jan 1909 birth.

FYI On 24 Nov 1934, Ruby Long (47Y), Leslie Long (20Y) and teacher Dulcie LONG (25Y) leave the port of Southampton after a stay at Tower rd, Lynwood, Hereford. They are on their way to Durban on the Njassa. (I believe Leslie LONG is the same person as Leslie Alston LONG b 9 Mar 1914 … and yes, the early 1914 births are also missing from the previously mentioned series)
