Butts (Boldery) Tipple - Redgrave 1683
« on: Monday 12 April 21 17:57 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am trying to verify the info that is in a lot of Ancestry trees about the above named.

He appears in the Blo Norton parish register in 1705 (16 March) as Butts Boldery marrying an Elizabeth Hammond.  However, a different version of the register shows Boldery having been overwritten as Tipple and the transcript shows him marrying Margaret Hammond, so all a bit confusng.  He and she are both shown to be of Garboldisham at the time.

Almost all the trees indicate that he was baptised at Redgrave, Suffolk in 1683, the child of Anne Tipple - with no record of the Boldery name at all,

I am thinking that either he or his mother was probably illegitimate in order to go by both names but I can find no proof of this and no bastardy bond.

Wondered if someone who hasn't been looking at this all day might be able to find some evidence.

Thanks, Pheno
