Ethel Fairest born 1912

This person died in Sheffield 1990 so I hope I can ask this question. Ethel Fairest married a "Sheldon" Sheffield 1945. But according to the 1939 England register there is a reference of another marriage to a "Fearn" in 1974 with the ref  CR283 SHE. I believe this is a Scottish marriage ref so wondering if anyone could help. Thank you.

But you're looking for an Ethel.
Nothing obvious under Fairest or Sheldon and I've searched just using forename 'Ethel' too.

Maybe someone else will have better luck.

No, it isn't.

Scottish post-1855 birth, marriage and death references contain the year, the district number and the number of the certificate. Occasionally a district number has a letter a or b tacked on the end of its number if the district has been subdivided, but there are none in the form quoted above.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Ethel Fearn
Birth date 23 January 1912 ( same date as the 1939 record )
Died Sept 1990
South Yorkshire

Not seeing a marriage so far to a Fearn ?
Might be better to get a copy of her death certificate to see what it says

Are you sure she was born in Scotland?

A CR283 is the form used to notify a change of name.
