Thomas Littleford #5487 of 18th Hussars - 2nd Boer War?
« on: Thursday 15 April 21 03:11 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

Looking for any information about this gentleman to determine if he is my great grand father.

I am hoping he was born around 1881 in Hertford but would have been living in Hornsey or Islington around 1900.

Richardson, Sherman, Gillam, Hitchcock, Neighbour, Groom, Walton, Strange, Littleford, Brown, Guy, Abbs, Tasker, Bartlett, Farey, Etteridge

In 1901 Thomas Littleford, 19, private, 18th Hussars, born  Birmingham, was stationed as a patient  in Canterbury.

Doesn't look like your great  grandfather.

I have found a Albert Tom Littleford born June Q 1882 Birmingham which might be the hussar.

Is your man Thomas Joseph Littleford born 1880, father Orson, a baker?

If so he appears to be at 25 Denmark Road, Hornsey, with his family in the 1901 census. Enumerated as Tom Littleford, 20, born Hertford.

The Thomas LITTLEFORD in the Hussars was definitely born in Birmingham according to his Army papers, he had brothers Frederick Herbert and John Edgar.

His father’s address was 69 Upper Cox Street, Balsall Heath, Birmingham. So it looks as if you can dismiss him.
