Looking for the parents of Thomas J Ellis.

I am helping a friend research her family but have hit a brick wall with Thomas J Ellis.

I have the following information:

Thomas J Ellis married Emily Street in 1922 Orsett, Essex
Children: Thomas Leonard Ellis b. 1923 Orsett, Essex
Queenie May Ellis b. 1926 Billericay, Essex

It would be great if anyone could help to discover who his parents are.

GRO records do not have a mother’s name so it looks as though he was illegitimate.

If you think that could be him, you might have to get the birth certificate and marriage certificate.

I have looked for a Thomas J Ellis in 1911 and there are a few so it's difficult to know which is the correct Thomas Ellis.

It has Thomas James Ellis born 22 Feb 1903 Ongar - father Elijah Ellis (no mother listed)

It has Thomas James Ellis born 22 Feb 1903 Ongar - father Elijah Ellis (no mother listed)

Interesting that birthdate of 22 Feb 1903 ^# is on that tree but the GRO reg has the birth registered as June Quarter 1903. Either a late registration or not the correct guy .... or right guy, wrong date.

There is another Thomas James Ellis^* registered Mar Qtr 1903 but it's in Norfolk, not Essex.
 

Can you find either of these lads on the 1911 census?


Do you have the marriage certificate?
 - What's Thomas' details, ie age, occupation and father's details.

Do you know when Thomas died? What was his age at death?

  ^* Believe the Norfolk lad was Cyril Thomas Ellis (aka Thos Ellis on 1911) so not your man.
