Will at National Archives of Ireland
« on: Thursday 15 April 21 16:16 BST (UK) »
Hello, Anyone know when the National Archives of Ireland in Dublin might reopen, or if closed to public, might they respond to email enquiries.

I have noticed on their Calendar of Wills & Admins (available on FindMyPast) that there is a will for Anna Wright who died in Co.Kildare on 19 Oct 1862 that was proved on the oath of her sister Harriette Lewis Wright of Norwich...  I'd very much like to get a copy of that will as Anna/Anne Wright had an illegitimate son Louis Wright/Clement who was bought up by that sister and he is my maternal great grandfather.

Any news on how I get to see the will would be welcome

Regards

John

The will was proved at the 'Principle Registry' i.e. Dublin, so the original probably does not survive, no harm in double checking when they open back up..

'the fact that there is an entry in the Calendar does not mean that the will or letters of administration referred to survives. There are copies of all wills proved elsewhere than the Principal Registry from 1858 to 1922 available in the National Archives ----- There is a full set of original wills for everywhere except the Principal Registry from 1900 on -- and for the Principal Registry from 1904 on.'
