Thank goodness that Viktoria's tablet and Caroline's emails have been sorted out.
Well done the Techies.
And glad the treasures have been found.

The Brittania Coconutters were at the Sidmouth Folk Festival a few years ago.... really brilliant.
We are not allowed to use black face paint anymore as it is offensive and racist.

I had ballroom dancing classes from around 8 years old. Then my Dad got permission to leave me at the Old Time weekly dances run by his Civil Defence Group. It was really lovely dancing with the elderly folk there, and my Dad always spruced up to arrive for the last dance and to drive me home.

I have danced at Exeter.... what is the kit being worn in the photos Roobarb?

The dancers are all wearing long black skirts, quite full and not quite reaching the ankles, also a long tunic type blouse over the skirt then a short waistcoat on top which has something like badges on it. Also heavy black ankle boots and long scarf type things draped around their backs.
One of the musicians is a woman playing a piano accordion, the other is a man wearing a cowboy hat. I think there's another musician but they're obscured by the dancers.

The Britannia Coconutters dress in black long sleeved tops, breeches to mid calf over white stockings ,clogs ,a short skirt with rings of red ,white ,a hat laden with fresh flowers and a short stick sometimes used in the dancing .
I think there were bells on the sticks .
Not seen them for a few years.
Viktoria.

Butting in, my particular favourite is the Wild Hunt Bedlam Morris - a troupe based in Croydon, with some dances that are "after watershed" rated! ;)

They do a lot for charities, attend school fairs etc .
Thankyou you very much for the photograph.

Well in my muddled thinking I had Prince Philip’s funeral starting at ten this morning!
Why I don’t know.
Of course TV mag has nothing about it, printed a while back obviously!
Yes I will watch it ,it is a long affair according to Google ,so a great ordeal for The Queen .

We had no T.V back in 1952 when George Vl died, only cinema newsreels.
Were invited to see The Coronation  on next door but one’s nine inch screen.
I now have a video of it in full colour .we showed it to the children at
school ..,they were gobsmacked at the pomp and ceremony and jewels, velvet etc.
They had been told the significance of things and the long long history .
It is all pretty amazing I feel.

Lovely sunny day ,must go to feed the fish. They are still a bit dozey, the cold weather I expect but I think they like the tropical fish food better than the cold water fish food,it was sent by mistake by Tesco, hardly any difference ,I will see how they go with the few remaining flakes of that.
Well must get on ,will be glued to TV this afternoon .
Cheerio .Viktoria.
