Hello Mhairi

Thanks for your message.    Certainly they were interesting and colourful families.  ;)

I have also looked on the family trees for Hazel Franklin but again, no actual birth certificate.

I had meant to also add, that somewhere in NZ BDM's records, there is a birth registration for Hazel.

[Source:  ancestry.com has ]   >

Hazel Amelia Mary FRANKLIN
Birthdate:     Jan-Feb-Mar      Year:   1913
Registration Place :    Palmerston North, NZ
Folio Number :    772

I've also tried to find this on the NZ BDM (online) site using variations of the surname  "FRANKLIN" - to no avail.

But the easiest way to get confirmation of her parents names and to be able to work out her date of birth (from such a listing), is to email NZ BDM supplying the details from ancestry.com and telling them you can't find the birth entry on their website.   I'm sure they'll delve into their records smartly and eventually rectify the matter.  :D

Here's the contact email address >

UPDATE   Please disregard the above.   Silly mistake on my part not widening the scope of my search.  :-[
Happily, now found on NZ BDM by kiwi-terrier   :)   ... see below.

Thanks for all your information.
I had a birth date for Hazel from Ancestry FTs as 11 December 1912 but no certificate  for me to verify this. As we know, information gets copied and recopied but is not always correct. Her birth must have been registered in Jan 1913.

Yes, 11 December 1912 is birthdate and registered in the new year, 1913.    [Same d.o.b.  confirmed on her death registration.]

Hello all,

What an interesting thread. I am the granddaughter of Jean Molly McLean (Bailey) mentioned earlier and starting the journey of piecing together my family history.

Look forward to delving into this a lot more.
