That ties in with the school record birth I put at Reply #6.

Archives New Zealand holds a 1976 probate for a man of the same name. I wonder if probate for your subject was settled late for some reason.

Looks like Florence McCOLGAN who married Allan Hector McLEAN (the elder) in 1936, was also known as Florence WATT.     (Source :  NZSG marriages)
Still seeking the connection to V. G. WATT.    Working on it.
