French first name?
« on: Friday 16 April 21 21:53 BST (UK) »
I need some help translating the first name of what I believe to be the godfather in this baptism.

Unfortunately, I don't think it says how their related to the baby. Second name however is the same shared by the paternal grandmother of this baby. I think it goes on to say what parish there residing in which I think is Notre Dame du pre in le mans.

Just that first name I'm having trouble with. Start of the fifth line down. Something Danou/Dauou/Davou (I've seen different interpretations on different trees)

Thanks for reading.

Okay, definietly is Vincent. Just found his marraige in du pre where Pierre Blondeau, the father in this baptism is present and they are cousins. Makes Sense.

Thank you Ili1133

There is a surname Daoust but I  wasn't sure if there was a variant Dauoust.  But I can find some mentions of that spelling so I think you have a Vincent Dauoust.
Rutter, Sampson, Swinerd, Head, Redman in Kent.  Others in Cheshire, Manchester, Glos/War/Worcs.
RUTTER family and Matilda Sampson's Will:

Yeah when you find the same guy but earlier it's shown as Davoust quite clearly. It's been a bit of an evolving surname, it's happened with a few others I've known Anjubault to Engibault for example. But this one has gone from Davou to Davous to Davoust. And then the a french womans tree I have been looking at had written it as Danou instead. I've gone down the middle with my tree with Davous.
