Handwritten entry on a otherwise typed register
« on: Saturday 17 April 21 16:15 BST (UK) »
Hi
can anyone please tell me if there is a way other than ordering the actual copy of certificate from GRO if a birth entry says say 8d see s/41  in the 1920's and its a hand written entry rather than typed like the rest on the page what the added note could mean im thinking along the lines of an illegitimate birth followed by the parents subsequently marrying and re registering
kind regards maggie

As far as I understand it will have been a birth in the 1920s not registered till the Sep quarter of 1941. It had to also be noted in the correct quarter or birth which explains the handwritten entry on the 1920 sheet. There will only be one certificate.

On the 1920s Index, is there a 2nd entry under the mother's maiden name?
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)
