Is this the birth registration for Annie?

Yes that’s the details that I have. Interestingly, she seems to have a brother, Ernest Parker (who I mentioned a few posts ago - he was baptised in 1924 but born in 1911). On the baptism record, his mother is Louisa and his father is William.

He was born in Wakefield in the fourth quarter of 1911:

Volume   9C
Page   38

His mother’s maiden name is Leach. Another mystery to the Parker/Parkin conundrum, as he is registered under Parker. It also seems odd given that all of Louisa’s other children are registered under Leach.

I'm afraid family history can be full of mysteries that are never really solved in any satisfactory way.

What was it that you wanted to try and find out about Annie (1907)?

I wanted to get a better understanding of her life growing up and who her parents were and what kind of life she had (where she lived, her parents’ occupations etc). I realise that we can never truly know from the records, but having a general idea is nice.

In relation to posting on this forum, I wanted to know what people’s thoughts were on the confusing situation, as it seems unusual to me. I am new to genealogy so there’s plenty that I’m still figuring out, like the fact that transcription errors are fairly common and can confuse things. You have helped a lot so thank you for taking the time to research this today  :)

It's what Rootschat is for, to help each other out especially anyone new to family history.  :D

I don't know whether anyone else will make any comments on the family situation as I seem to have monopolised all the replies!!  ::)

You get anything and everything in family history from abandonment, bigamy through to murder.  You name it, it has probably featured somewhere in someone's family tree.

In my family I have a great grandfather who left his wife and lived with another woman and had a child with her.  Never married her.  His legal wife died two years before he did.

Just so you don't waste time searching for the brother Ernest in the '39:

Sheffield Daily Telegraph 19 January 1932

Private Ernest Leech Parker, of the King's
Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, Tidworth, and
whose home address was at 51, Bloor Street,
Sheffield, was killed on Sunday night, when
a motor-car he was driving crashed into a
bridge at Cricklade (Wilts).

The article goes on to say he had two companions from the same regiment with him, who were injured, and of these men had stolen the car.  Parker must have been thrown from the car as he was found dead, impaled on some railings =(

And just for your sources while making your tree, his death reg. info:
Name:    Ernest L Parker
Death Age:    20
Birth Date:    abt 1912
Registration Date:    Jan 1932
[Feb 1932]
[Mar 1932]
Registration Quarter:    Jan-Feb-Mar
Registration District:    Cricklade
Inferred County:    Wiltshire
Volume:    5a
Page:    65

Oh dear how awful  :(  All for the sake of what amounts to joyriding in a stolen car.

Wow. Thanks that for bbart, I hadn’t seen it.

What a waste of a life, and how traumatic.

Thank you for everyone’s help (especially Girl Guide!), this is my first time posting on Rootschat and it really has been so helpful.  :)
