John George WHITE
« on: Saturday 17 April 21 20:16 BST (UK) »
Evening all.

I'm still struggling over a family member and wondered if you help me again, please.
I think last time I went of on a tangent... and got lost lol

Some time ago I was looking for any info of my aunt Doreen's (Sharp) parents who according to her birth cert are, John George White and his wife May Dorothy White (nee Lawrence)
Doreen was born on 18th April 1931 in Finnymore Road, Dagenham, Essex.
GRO info  1931 J 04A 765.
The reason I'm on here is that I am "told" that "John George White" came from "the other side of the river"... as his daughter would say.
John's occupation on birth cert states he was a "Guard (central London Railway)"
I don't seem to be able to find any info on Doreen's mum and dad, your help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Did your aunt have a sister Beatrice who married a Chapman. I think John George her father and mother May Dorothy are on the 1939 register with quite a few children.

There is a John White age 18, boarder with the Moroney family, carman for the Great Western Railway on the 1911 census.
I can't pick his birth out for the many in 1894 which he gives as his birth year in 1939.

Purchasing the marriage certificate will give you his father's name and occupation to be certain you are following the correct family.

Just found that May Dorothy Lawrence... "came over with her family from Ireland 🇮🇪 and they lived in Acton".

Does this help ?

Acton is very close to Brentford...

In the 1939 register, are there any ages given for John or May?

The above being so, we can discount the family I have found then :)
I'll take another look.

John George White born 30 May 1895. Dorothy May 31 March 1895. Neither had originally been given their middle names and these are written in later in green with George being inserted after John and Dorothy being inserted before May. But the children's names don't match with what you have.
