Thank you - and I will check out that FB site.  Some online trees have a father’s name, William, but with no supporting evidence.  I will be looking for a Garnham family with a missing James born 1812 or close.  The goal entrance record is consistent with death certificates regarding year of birth.  It pays to go back through documents as he is noted there as being Catholic though he could have converted after arrival. Married in 1841 at the major Catholic Church in Sydney.  His wife-to-be arrived as a Protestant on a ship full of Irish Catholic immigrants in 1839.  I think I will be looking for Catholic records in Suffolk. I will let you know how I go!
