I am warming up to this John Fowlie, marine engineer being son of the family ;)

There is a crew list in 1879 for a 17yr old John Fowlie born in Stornoway.

Also, a crew member (Engineer) J Fowlie, b. 1862 Stornoway, arriving in in Sydney NSW in 1892 and Australia in 1893.

So, think now that the 1911 entry and death is very likely our John.

Wow! That's amazing -- one son in the Yukon, one in Singapore and one in Australia! They did get about. Thank you so much.

Hi Monica, could you let me have the sources for these crew references? Many thanks.

Think that will be Manor Farm, Stornoway!

Hi Skoosh, yes, Manor Farm is right. Gavin later moved to Laxdale Cottage.
