Pat - is there any chance of getting a better scan of the group photo? It's very blurred and small for making comparisons.

The one of the woman is 1860's.
The 2 boys could be 1860's but more likely 1870's.
We would need to see the back of this one to be sure.

sorry to be a nuisance.. this is the reverse of the two boys.

Was it common to have boys seated in this way, I showed it to our youngest son. He said 'under no circumstances would he have a photo taken on his brothers knee' ...

The back of the boys does look 1860s or very very early 1870s to me.

****The group scan is much better, Pat. add - the back of this one is late 1860s -early 1870s - maybe 5-10 years difference between them  :-\
