Hello Emilypos and MJM.
Firstly John Cecil was a single man in Tidenham before he took to stealing wood and got transported to NSW. His father was William Cecil who married 1788 to Rachel Jones.
One of my other resaerchers found the 1825 Convict General Muster index with a John Cail on was an alphabetical handwritten list so it was compiled from numerous other lists from the different districts of the colony. But the Cail names was not on the Ship Adanant.
Cecil/Cail obtained depasturing Licences in NSW 1837 - Belwyn River [4 miles south of the junction of Boorowra River and the Lachlan River], 1838 - Yass, 1839 & 1840 - Lachlan. These Licences were handed back.
Only one Cecil in all of the cemeteries around Cowra. No Cail's [spelling] that i could find.
It would appear that Mr.Cecil/Cail left a small impribt in the area west of Sydney.
Cheers
Jack Gee
