Thomas Wildbore.
« on: Saturday 24 April 21 21:20 BST (UK) »
Good morning

Top line

Thomas son of Thos’ Wildbore of ........................& Elizth ??

Also, is it likely someone named Thomas then becomes Tobias?   (I realise of course that that is a stupid question as he could become John if he wanted!  I am just wondering if people are clutching at straws by thinking this baptism is of someone who is later Tobias).

Baptism is at St Dunstable & All Saints, Stepney

After a lot of staring, I think the missing bit is the abbreviation of where they lived, followed by an abbreviation/full word of occupation.
If you look hard, a lot start with either MOT  or POP, followed by carpen (carpenter) garderner, etc.
POP assumably is Poplar, and MOT could be for Mile End, which was at some point in time referred to as Mile End Old Town.
Thomas is MOT victu... so perhaps victualler (or a Licensed victualler, making him a pub owner)

Just a guess, of course!

As bbart has suggested, MOT = Mile-end Old Town. Also to be seen on this page is MNT, for Mile-end New Town. In later registers for St Dunstan Stepney, MEOT and MENT are more commonly found.

I would agree that Thomas' occupation is Victur = (Licensed) Victualler.
