Yes, thanks Comberton.

I'm afraid I don't recognise any of the names of people at No 51 - but the Lovegrove family (surname of one of the witnesses) lives next door. Interesting!

Long shot but I suppose there's a chance Emma was buried with her husband or in a family plot - do you know where Frederick was buried?  Or her parents?

Hi Milliepede,

Interesting thought - I haven't tracked down any of the graves - but it's a good further line of research.

Regarding Louisa's whereabouts in 1881 - I think I have located her at 10 Station Road, Ashby de la Zouch, as a Housemaid in the Smallwood household. Transcriptions give her age as 30 - but it looks like 20 to me. And she hails from Uttoxeter, Staffs - so I think this is my Louisa!

Yes, I think this may well help in completing the story as far as Louisa is concerned - but unfortunately it doesn't get me any closer to tracking down Emma!

Oh that's an interesting discovery, if she was another child of Emma's it proves she was still alive in 1867 if nothing else.
