So this album, Alleluia, has Golden Slumbers on it by Norman Bearcroft, but with a different hymn.

I thought I recognised that melody from your original posting.  Of course..... it's "Golden Slumbers" - my mother used to sing it to me at bedtime when I was very little:

Golden slumbers fill your eyes
Smiles await you when you rise
Sleep pretty darling, do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby

I sing it to my grandchildren now.  I think this was just the chorus part of the song.

And now I see to my astonishment that the Beatles also sang this chorus with verses, but not to the same melody, however!
