Matthew Coleman
« on: Monday 26 April 21 14:18 BST (UK) »
Matthew Coleman died 16th Aug 1933 Carberytown Glanmire Co Cork. I am trying to locate his burial location. I have looked at registers for Rathcooney & Dunbullogue cemeteries with no result. I am wondering is there another likely burial place adjacent to where he lived. Thank you

Hi Ballydw,

As Mathew  ( one t on his death cert) and same in Census lived in Riverstown, Glanmire he
may have been buried in one of the local cemeteries in that area.

One would be  Ballylucra, Brookhill, Glanmire - quite near to Riverstown

https://www.findagrave.com/cemetery/2684895/ballylucra-cemetery/map

or the other one which is quite near also would be    Caherlag.

https://historicgraves.com/graveyard/caherlag/co-chlg

I did browse through this cemetery but didn't come across Mathew/Matthew Coleman.

Any chance he might be buried in Kilcully or Curraghkippane  -

I'm trying to think are there any other cemeteries near Carrig na bFhear where he originated from besides Dun Bolg. ???

Another one is St. Lachteen's in Grenagh   only 15 mins from Carrignavar.

Whitechurch cemetery is too recent  - not sure when it opened.

Good luck with your search.

Mary

Matthew is on several trees on Ancestry.  Do you think if you contacted some of the tree owners they might know where he is buried?   Worth a try I suppose.

Im back using two T's again!!!

Thanks for the update Ballydw.  I know exactly what you mean when you say people rarely reply to messages.  I find that all the time especially with the dna matches.  I think most people have got these tests as gifts and they are not interested in pursuing things any further.

I did some searching for you earlier.   Matthew had an older brother Michael from what I can remember born 1859 and I did go through the Nli for Whitechurch, Blarney to see if the parents had married there no luck for 1858/1859 . There is a photo of Michael on that site.   It seems that many of the family were born in Glanmire and some born in Carrignavar.
Matthew's father John was born in Glanmire 15 April 1837 and his wife JOhanna Geaney was also born in Glanmire 24 Jan 1838.   Unusual that they were both Glanmire and then Matthew was born in Carrignavar.

Thanks for the update it is always nice to hear how things work out.
