Jabez William Martin death?

Jabez was born 1853 Ewhurst, Sussex. In 1911 he is living in Hastings. His wife Louisa died 1915 Hastings.
The only Jabez W that I can find died 1936 Hastings but his age at death shows as 33 yrs. I am wondering if someone entered the incorrect age and this is my guy? If so how to prove?

OCTOGENARIANS DEATH. The death of Mr. Jabez William Martin occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. D. Sargent, 152, West-hill, St. Leonards, on Sunday, at the age 83.

The age could easily be incorrect. I recently found such an error when looking for the death of an ancestor.

The Jabez W Martin who died in 1936 shows an age of 33 -- I have searched for a birth civil registration for Jabez W Martin for the period 1900 to 1910 and the result was ZERO.

The only way forward is to purchase the death certificate and hopefully the informant details will be a family member that you recognise.

Maureen is correct, there are 2 or 3 newspaper snippets about him.

GRO Reference: 1936  J Quarter in HASTINGS  Volume 02B  Page 10

Giving a birth year of 1853.

Interesting.....

Both Find My Past and FreeBMD have his age as 33.

I had a look at the image and it is a typed one that shows the age as 33, so one has to assume that somebody wasn't paying attention and put the age as 33 instead of 83.
