Ann Jane McDonough
« on: Wednesday 28 April 21 16:53 BST (UK) »
Hi

Ann Jane McDonough was born in Liverpool on the 28th July 1864, being baptised within St Peter, Liverpool on the 21t August 1864, daughter of John McDonough, a hairdresser, and his wife, Margaret McCormack.
She married Jacob Hollinger in St George, Everton on the 25th May 1885, again confirming that her father was John McDonough, a hairdresser (no indication of being deceased).

One of the witnesses was J A Gillison; this was James A Gillison, a ship broker from Scotland, Ann Jane had been working in his household in 72 Kinglake Street, West Derby in 1881 as a domestic servant.

There is no trace of her in 1871, nor can I find any trace of her parents.

Ann Jane had at least one sister, Mary, who had been born on the 22nd June 1867, being baptised on the 25th July, she can be tentatively found 'boarding' with John Hickman, a cotton porter, on the 1891 census, before marrying a Henry Wilson.

However there is no trace of the girls with their parents on any census - can anyone help?

Thanks

Sue

Presume you have checked for deaths for the parents?

Using GRO online shows a daughter Catherine born 1869 but no other children.

1871 ref for parents & Mary

RG10/3815/141/8 correctly spelt as McDonough but John is not a hairdresser so may be a different couple

As yet I can’t see them, but they married as McDonald.
