Malo-les-Bains, 1940

Hello,

My 2x great-grandad was killed in Malo-les-Bains on the 1st of June 1940. I know about Operation Dynamo etc, and wondered why was he there rather than in Dunkirk itself? Does anyone know what was going on there at that time? He was a driver in the RASC.

I’d appreciate any help!
