Martha goes missing
« on: Thursday 29 April 21 10:10 BST (UK) »
I have lost sight of Martha Catherine Garside (b 29 January 1854, Sheffield); daughter of Henry and Martha Catherine.   Henry died 1890 and Martha in 1903;  her Will written in 1898 does not mention daughter Martha but does mention all her other surviving children.

Martha junior was last sighted in 1891 census working as a Nurse Matron at the Cottage Hospital, Bocking, Braintree in Essex.

Any suggestions as to where she might be?  I'm guessing that she might have died before her mother's Will was written in 1898 but not convinced.  :-\

A possibility

Essex and Colchester Hospital. Xmas function reported
Chelmsford Chronicle 29 December 1905

mentions the Matron "Miss Garside"

If that is her then she transfers to Shrewsbury
18 October 1907 - Chelmsford Chronicle

Yes it is the daughter of brother William (b 1861). Spouse mistranscribed....he's James Hardee!  I'm trying to help one of his descendants.

Maybe the death of this Martha Catherine GARSIDE might convince you?

BINGO!  That must be Martha.

I am convinced! I had planned a major hunt tomorrow as I have to be home all day (work going on); but you have found her.

Thank you so much. :-*
