Burials of two sisters
« on: Thursday 29 April 21 15:57 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the final resting places of two sisters who both resided in Waltham Abbey around 1900.

Sophia TEAT née GILBERT died aged 76 at the Alms Cottages in Waltham Abbey on 25 Dec 1899, the widow of William TEAT, a boot maker.

Sarah LAWRANCE née GILBERT of Manor Road, Farm Hill died aged 76 at St Bartholomews Hospital on 13 Feb 1902. Sarah was a reasonably well-off annuitant, following the death of her husband George LAWRANCE.

I suspect that they are both buried somewhere in the Waltham Abbey area. As far as I know, they were both CoE, but might have been Protestant non-conformists.

Any help gratefully received.

Seeing as it appears husband William was buried in Waltham Abbey Cemetery it seems likely that Sophia might have been too. Have you had a look for any records for the cemetery?

In case you haven't seen already, there appears to be a lot of newspaper references to William, in his public roles at Waltham Abbey. Most recorded under the name Mr W Teat.

You are probably right that she is also in WA cemetery. The problem is that I cant find any online records for that cemetery. Do you have any idea where to locate them?

Greaves have you tried this?

Waltham Abbey Cemetery is situated in Sewardstone Road and comprises the Old Cemetery on the west side and the New Cemetery on the east side  and has been administered by the Town Council since 1974.
