Looking for some general information on which railway companies may have operated in the Chesterfield area about 1875-1895. Many thanks, Flemming.

Seems to have been :
The Great Central Railway.
The Midland Railway.
Lancashire, Derbyshire and East Coast Railway.

Ah, pipped by Shaun, but I'll let it stand, ;)
Baron (of Blackburn), Chadwick (Oswaldtwistle), Watkins (Swansea), Jones (x3 Swansea), Colton (Shropshire), Knight (Shropshire/Montgomery) , Bullen (Norfolk), White (Dorset)

Hello Flemming -

In the period you asked about, 1875-1895, it would have been only the Midland Railway until 1892 when the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire opened their line.  The MS&LR was renamed the Great Central Railway in 1899.

The Lancashire, Derbyshire & East Coast Railway didn't appear until 1897.

Harry.
Ballingall, Donaldson, Fulton, Gillespie, Ramsay, Walker - in Fife.
Bury - in Salford & Liverpool.
Jack - in Glasgow, Dunfermline & Dundee.
Bermingham/Birmingham - in Cork.
Eagle - in Norfolk, Edinburgh & Glasgow.

Hello Harry, that's great, many thanks - big help to narrow it down, and I see Ancestry has records for the Midland Railway which might be useful. Cheers, Flemming.
