Hughes marriage again
« on: Friday 30 April 21 12:32 BST (UK) »
Hello again ,I have come across a marriage for a Thomas Hughes (Ironmonger) on 21/08/1892  in Kimberley South Africa  to a Harriet Louie Hughes(dressmaker) these clues fit my research  how do I go about getting a copy of this and will it show the parents details on it,would be nice if i could find out if  Harriet was the  lady who went down with her child in the Drummond Castle disaster.
Thanks

The image is available via Family Search - unfortunately South African marriage entries show very little information - names, ages, marital status and occupations.

If you are not already signed up to FS, then it is free to register.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

I don't know the answer for your latest question - where can I apply for marriage records - but I can confirm that I have at least 40 copies of marriage entries in South Africa - mainly Free State and Natal - dating from 1855 until 1953, and nowhere is there more information than name, age, status and occupation.  Sorry  :'(
