WATSON - Girton

I am having a baffling time with two children of David and Elizabeth Watson.

I've found a list of baptisms as transcriptions of their children and the two below are causing the bafflement.

Alfred Franklyn Watson baptised 28th January 1883 and below is his birth registration from the GRO

WATSON, ALFRED  FRANKLIN     WILLSON 
GRO Reference: 1882  D Quarter in CHESTERTON  Volume 03B  Page 440

Henry James Watson born 4 June 1883 and baptised 28th January 1883   

I cannot find a birth registration for Henry at all.

Henry appears to be on the 1891 census as Harry, no age given on the transcription.  Alfred is also on there with no age.  A look at the image shows a black line through the age section

The parents David and Elizabeth died in 1894 and 1895.

I've found Henry as Harry James in the 1901 listed as a nephew born 1881.  There is no birth for a Henry James Watson in 1881.

I have found 12 birth registrations for this family starting in 1862 and finishing in 1884, mmn either Willson or Wilson.  All in the Chesterton registration district.

So far one child died, Adelaide  born 1873 died 1875.

I'm getting cross-eyed trying to sort it all out

Ah thank you Maureen.  That would make sense.  For whatever reason the names were switched round when he was baptised.

He is down as James H in the 1881 but has become Harry in the 1891.

I wonder if the transcriber misread the birth year as 1883 instead of 1881

 If I have the correct fellow on the 1939-he gives his dob as 12 Jun 1880.
