Sarah OVEREND, Hemingbrough
« on: Sunday 02 May 21 13:50 BST (UK) »
Good Afternoon everyone, hope you are all well  :)

I appear to have hit a massive brick wall.... I am trying to find a mention anywhere of the birth of a lady named Sarah Overend. She married a man named Christopher Slater (who I'm also unable to trace) from Wakefield, described as a gentleman in the parish register. They married, by licence, in Hemingbrough on 20th July 1801. The couple went on to have just 2 children: John Christopher Slater b1802 and Henry Overend Slater b1805.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated,

Thank you, Carrie xx

Marriage entry states she was 21, so born c1780.

Possible baptism:
27 November 1779 at Darton York
Father Timothy Overend.

Of course, she may have been a minor, but told a fib about her age :o

I have just found your enquiry so I've registered. Sarah Overend  married my husband's great great grandad  Christopher Slater. Missing only one generation the name Overend has continued until my grand children .My husband aged 88 is Tom Overend, as was his dad .  His dad was Tom, his father Henry Overend, and back to Sarah. I only know Sarahs in-laws were Christopher ( b1742) Elizabeth Nee Smith, and  his father was Christopher (b1710) I would love to hear from you!!
