interestingly Joseph Wilson is away from home in the 1861 Census , I thought at Sea, which is his profession when he married now thinking Prison so hand the youngest to the Grandmother !!!

So if Emma is a child of this marriage her birth is rather close to that of Joseph in Sept quarter 1853

Joseph was my least likely contender! 1855 is only an estimate from census, but 1854 was the 'nearest' possible registration I could find, I have just eliminated the Emma Louisa from Blackburn has a possible other children to the couple (baptisms) and Birth registrations (Parents John and Louisa)

So if Emma was illegitimate then the only such registrations are in Louth Thetford Halifax Sunderland and Bradford. None very likely. Perhaps she wasn't registered?

You mention a possible marriage for Emma. Do you mean the 1873 Blackburn one to either Wm Harwood or Wm Morris?

From GRO births this Emma married Wm Harwood. There are oodles of Harwood-Wilson children registered in Blackburn, but - wouldn't you know it - there's another probable Harwood to Wilson marriage there. Ralph Henry Harwood to Margaret Ann Wilson.

 (Caveat: or other combination, but it would be impossible for one woman to have all these children so close together. There are births just one quarter apart.)

Unless I missed it, I cannot see on this thread who Emma Wilson supposedly married??

If it is to William Harwood 1873 Blackburn, marriage details are:

William Harwood  19   Labourer     Oldham Street      son of Robert Harwood
Emma Wilson    19      Weaver       Russell Street       dau. of James Wilson, Piecer
married 30/8/1873 Christ Church, Blackburn.

Now, the Emma Wilson with her grandmother in 1873 is living in Russell Street so sounds like this is her.  If so, she's named her father as a James Wilson.

Good find, Annette. Yes, this was the question I was asking just above, because Jinks never gave the marriage details on the thread.

Father James Wilson, if this is him, seems elusive - nothing found after his baptism according to the OP. There are loads of marriages for James Wilsons in Lancs, but 1852 Blackburn looks promising - to one of Ellen Bury, Elizabeth Hill or Catherine Hutchinson.

I don't have Ancestry or FindMyPast at present so can anyone search?

The family actually has TWO Harwood marriages - The Two Harwood men appear to be no relation but did suspect that at first 

Annette you are correct the marriage took place at Christ Church.

Margaret Hall (Mother Elizabeth Wilson) also marries a Harwood hence the Harwood children on the Census ^^ - which are actually Grandchildren  and Great Grandchild of Margaret Wilson.

There is a James Wilson - just lose him after the baptism
