Soldier records early 1800's
« on: Wednesday 05 May 21 09:31 BST (UK) »
Lancashire Online Parish Clerk Baptisms 1801, 1806 & 1810 for John, Mary, & James MERCER respectively by Mark & Nancy Mercer. Occupation Soldier. 1814 Baptism for Thomas son of Nancy Mercer, Widow. All records at St Leonard, Middleton, Lancs. It appears that Mark may have been killed while serving? What is the best way to investigate records for soldiers at this time? Thank you.

There was a soldier of that name (Mark Mercer) in 1st Dragoons. Enlisted 18 December 1799.

Info from a transcription of a document in WO25/884.

Thank you for your kind reply.
May I enquire as to where I can see this record, do I need to register with Ancestry etc?
