Thanks for the input everyone. John Coulter, station master at Mount Charles, is a relation of mine. John Coulter's people met a Coulter in the UK in recent times who happened to be a descendant of the station master in Inver. The Hugh Coulter that Kiltaglassan found, who was a railway clerk, is a possibility.

It would have been a bit easier if you'd explained that you were looking for a relative of John Coulter rather than just a Coulter but there is probably information to be found now (I was able to find lots on your John Coulter this morning).

Here's that Hugh Coulter in 1911 (thanks to Kiltaglassan for finding him)-

Parents Hugh Coulter & Catherine Hamilton married 1871- his father Andrew Coulter. John Coulter's father also called Andrew-

This is extract of funeral for John Coulter's father-

Thanks for this. David Kirk, stationmaster at Inver, was my great-uncle - I didn't know he was stationmaster. His brother, my grandad David Kirk, owned the shop - photo attached. Inver railway station is just down the road in front of it.

The oldest child in the photo is my mother. The house is now owned by the Cassidy family ("David Kirk" above the door was replaced by "Cassidy" - I think that they are distant relatives). I visited a while ago when it was being refurbished - photo attached.
