Interesting generational difference for DNA
« on: Friday 07 May 21 16:46 BST (UK) »
Just found an 1871 census entry (in Brecknock) with the largest generational difference I've seen yet. Uriah Evans, age 98 yrs, with wife Mary, age 28 yrs, and son John, 2 yrs. They appear to have married in 1866 and son John was born 1868 (i.e. not born before marriage or Mary already pregnant when married).

Uriah is living next door to sons Daniel (age 52 yrs) and Samuel (age 45 yrs) by his first marriage.

Admittedly Uriah's YOB meanders between censuses (as well as 1773 there's also 1772, 1781 and 1791) but it still makes me wonder how it may impact on DNA analysis given it's possible for someone still alive to have a great grandfather born in the 1770/80s. Or if son John repeated his father's trend, even a grandfather born this far back  ???

Gosh that is a heck of an age gap isn't it!

I'm reminded about that old joke about the fertility doctor and the duck.
;D Doing my best, but frequently wrong ;D
:-* My thanks to everyone who helps me, you are all marvellous :-*

Did Mr Evans give his occupation or hobby on that census form?  I'll leave quietly.

I give in. What's the joke, or can't it be repeated here?

And I thought my family had a large generational gap!

My Father was 30 years older than my Mother, and in his late 50’s when I was born, 60 when my sister was born.

And so I have a Grandfather who was born in 1860. (He’s the elusive one who I’ve been trying to find for 40 years!)

Romilly.

It's very very lewd and absolutely not safe for work! Link below, you have been warned.

This was the only version online that I could find and it has a different animal but you get my point.
