Do records exist for the actions that would have awarded a MM to a soldier?
I am looking for James R Howard 66981, awarded in 1918.

Unfortunately not.
You will have to rely on newspapers & any mention in the war diary.
Unfortunately again being MGC you would need his Btn. no.
The Gazette entry will be several weeks after the event.

I only have 216 Coy. MGC. Not sure if this would help??

Couldn't see any reference anywhere mentioning a Coy.
This is what the LLT says:
216th MG Company   
Joined 1st Division, 22 March 1917. Moved into No 1 Bn, MGC 28 February 1918.
I'll try & track down their diary.

Found it & just going through late 1917.
They were involved in action Nov. of that year.
I'll see if there's mention of MM's.
