Ernest Edmund Taylor 1907 - beginner advice
« on: Saturday 08 May 21 12:38 BST (UK) »
I'm hoping for advice on where to start searching for military records. My family have always been curious about the WW2 military history of Ernest Edmund Taylor, born 27.09.1907 Morpeth, Northumberland. As with many others, he returned from the war a changed man and would never talk about it. It was always suspected he was a prisoner of war but other than that, I have nothing else to start on.

A quick search on FindMyPast shows no exact matches to include middle name, but plenty of Ernest Taylors. Unfortunately, no details are known, even of which regiment, so I have no idea if I can proceed any further. I would assume Northumberland, and his father was of the Northumberland Fusiliers in WW1.

Are there any other options? I thought maybe the 1939 register would detail something, but other that 'British Red Cross' in the right hand column, I have ran out of ideas. Any advice would be appreciated.

That's very helpful, thanks for that. I'll double check with the family to make sure there are no certificates of use, or even regiment name, and apply :)
