William Allen, Burt Donegal
« on: Monday 10 May 21 19:37 BST (UK) »
William Allen (3 times great grandfather) married Ellen Collins, the children were all born in Donegal and rasied catholic. When I type in Allen on the census the Allens for Burt come up as Presbyterian. I think William is a catholic, not sure if William Allen is related to the same Allens in Burt.

It would help if you gave some indication of dates.

Son to William Allen & Ellen Collins born 1879 at Carroreagh-

William's baptism- https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000633002#page/28/mode/1up

Perhaps look though register for other children/marriage.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Many thanks, does the information indicate it was from a catholic church, just interested as the other Allens are presbyterian. I don't have much time to look at the moment

It is from the Catholic registers - see the link.

William’s residence shows as Toulett

Griffiths valuation shows a Paul Allen in Toulett

Many thanks, was just confusing they had Allens who were protestants in the same area. Wasn't sure if they were related

There is a death here for Eleanor Allen, 1877
Informant is William Allen, Toolette. It doesn’t show the relationship though

I think it says Eleanor Allen died aged 60 was a widow, could be William's mother?
