Dorset Family History Society's Research Centre Re-opens in Poole
« on: Tuesday 11 May 21 15:20 BST (UK) »
Dorset Family History Society is pleased to be re-opening their local research centre Treetops on Wednesday 19th May 2021 after being closed since last March. The centre, at Suite 5 Stanley House, 3 Fleets Lane, Poole, BH15 3AJ, will be opening initially twice a week on Wednesday and Saturday from 10.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. for personal research only and for a small charge.
The Society’s computers will be available to access the subscription sites Ancestry (Worldwide), Find My Past, The Genealogist, Fold 3 and the British Newspaper Archives.  Experienced volunteers will a be on hand to give assistance and advice.
Visits must be pre-booked by using the contact form on the DFHS’s website www.dorsetfhs.org.uk where all the details are listed. Unlike in the past, only those with a booking will be admitted to allow for social distancing. To protect visitors and volunteers alike a risk assessment has been made and a number of measures have been put in place to make Treetops Covid safe based on current government guidelines and regulations. These visitor guidelines will be shared with those making a booking.
Dorset Family History Society has been having regular Zoom meetings during the lockdown period and has provided a virtual research assistance service by Zoom or telephone, all of which are still continuing. However, the Society is looking forward to seeing visitors at Treetops again!
