1911 Census -John Johnson
« on: Tuesday 11 May 21 16:14 BST (UK) »
Hi knowledgeable folk...

Looking for any census information or indeed any information for my wife's grandfather if anyone can help please. All I have so far is the following:

John 'Jack' Johnson born 29 Nov 1904 in Grimsby, Lincolnshire. Died 5 Jun 1985 in Bournemouth.
Married to Dorothy Robinson on 5 Jun 1937.

Ideally would like to know the name of his parents if possible. Struggling to find his birth records.

Many thanks in advance...

We would normally suggest that you purchase their marriage certificate which should confirm their fathers names and occupations.

The only birth registration in Grimsby around that time is this one, with a date of birt of 30 November 1904 it could have been registered the following quarter
JOHNSON, JOHN       mmn BATES
GRO Reference: 1905  March Quarter in GRIMSBY  Volume 07A  Page 584

Familysearch has the 1911 census, have you tried looking on there

Thanks Rosie, that's very helpful.

I've tried family Search but failed to find anything. I'm a bit of a novice, so maybe I'm not looking correctly, I'll have another go.

Fairly confident he had a brother called George and his mother may have been called Sarah.

Thanks Comberton, really appreciate your help. That's all sounding right. Do your findings mention any other children?
