Help with 13th Century Common Plea Roll
« on: Wednesday 12 May 21 01:51 BST (UK) »
I hope somebody can hep me figure out whether I've the record that I am looking for on the Anglo American legal Tradition site.

I've been trying to track down references made in the 17th century to various records for Hethersett in Norfolk.

In this case, the note says:

1268
Radus fil Radi de Hethersett
plita Corona Ao 52 H3 R.6.??

The question mark is (I think) a "D" for Dorse.

In other cases, the Judicial Term was included, but not so here.

This was along with other notes to do with the Manor of Hethersett Woodhall.

I think I may have the right record here:

http://aalt.law.uh.edu/AALT1/H3/KB26no184A/bKB26no184Adorses/IMG_0055.htm

Though I cannot see any mention to any Ralfs or to Hetherset: in the middle of the 4th line, it looks to me that it refers to the manor of "Wodehalle".

Is this wishful thinking (I'm no good at Capital letters), or am I onto something?

Thanks in advance,

Lewis

I can't read the defendant's name very well, but the plaintiff is in the middle of the third line, starting int'.

What looks like Mimone or Munone le Draper of Winton/Winchester, concerning occupation of the manor of Wodelawe.

Pontifex - Bucks
Goldhurst - London, Middx, Herts
Kellogg/Kelhog - Essex, Cambs

Aaah.

I thought I might have been clutching at straws :)

Thanks Vance. I'll have to keep up the hunt.
