William Blakeman Baptism record Look up Please
« on: Thursday 13 May 21 10:50 BST (UK) »
My Blakeman  tree is sending me round the bend.. I sent off for a birth certificate for William Blakeman to find out who his mother was.It came back
With his Father William Blakeman,  Mother Catherine Long  he was born in Mill Street Warwick  11th Jan 1851.
I searched for William and Catherine's  marriage and found they married in 1849 in Warwick, William's father is a Richard Blakeman and his occupation  is a Carpenter.
I am trying to find a baptism record for William to find out who his mother was but on the census his year birth ranges from 1812 to 1821. I have since found a baptism for a George Blakeman  25th Dec 1814  Father Richard  occupation  Carpenter  mother Mary  and they lived in Smith Street Warwick St Nicholas  Parish, I have gone backwards and forwards through the parish records in the hope of finding one for William.
Am I missing something? Could they have changed his name after to William.
Any help would be appreciated

Hi I did start a trail for George and I found a marriage for a George Blakeman and Ann Gould/Gold in Warwick in 1837 St nicholas parish but it doesnt give  Fathers names or anything so not much to go on,
I then found a criminal record for a George in 1840 in Warwick for bigamy imprisoned for a year.. may be mine I dont know...
1861 census I found a George Blakeman  born in Warwick  abt 1818  occupation Carpenter and Joiner
Wife Hannah  Blakeman  1831  she was born in Thuridge Herts

1867 I found a marriage  for a George Blakeman and  Hannah Segguie
Christchurch, Southwark
George's occupation  Carpenter.
Fathers name is Richard Blakeman  deceased.. could be mine or coincidence  I dont know.
1871 census George and Hannah are in London
And that's as far as I got .

Where do you have this family in 1851 census.

Who were the witnesses to William and Catherines marriage

The image for the baptism of George in 1814 is on FindMyPast. Mother is given as Mary. There is also a daughter Eliza in 1812 but no William that I can find.

Working backwards. Catherine appears on 1891 census as a widow. In 1881 William aged 68 Shoe and boot maker, Kate 60 both born Warwick. This suggests that William died between 1881-91. The only death in Warwickshire for a William is in 1892 aged 62 = c1830, or did he possibly in 1895 aged 73 = c1822 but this does not tie in with Catherine in 1891.

I've yet to find them on the 1851 census,
on the 1861 census  William and Catherine  are there with their son William Blakeman ( my grt grt grandad)   born 1851 hes aged 10
On the 1841 census William Blakeman is living in mill street on his own and Catherine's parents  live a few doors down .
I found a  burial for a William Blakeman
On 15th July 1887  st nicholas parish.. address is St Nicholas Church Street and hes aged 66 yes old  which makes his birth year 1821.
The witness on Catherine and Williams  marriage  are Thomas  Swinbourn and Harriet Phillips or Phillfor ?
I've tried the witness route but didnt find anything.
