Dirk Johannes Odendaal c1853-1930

Trying to discover who his parents were.
According to his Death Notice (completed by his son) Dirk was born in Cradock and his parents were Maryna and Dirk Johannes Odendaal, but I cannot find any further information for them. Am getting a bit cross-eyed with all the Odendaal death notices and marriage/bapt records that I've looked at

Dirk's first wife was Susanna Margaretha Cloete (1859-1906) - they married 1876 in Rouxville, OFS, and had nine children.
I've also tried searches based on their children's name - their first two children appear to have been named after Susanna's parents - Gert Johannes 1878 and Aletta Catherina 1880 - and their next three were named Jacoba Susanna 1883, Willem Andries Johannes 1886 and Dirk Johannes 1888.

Any help in finding Dirk's parents would be much appreciated.
