Rickarde Gerard PLUSS could be from Switzerland.
« on: Sunday 16 May 21 23:07 BST (UK) »
A strange request please for a person searching ancestry of PLUSS family in Switzerland/Germany

Rickarde Gerard Pluss

A descendant is in Australia but who were they and where did the name originate?

This may be in the too hard basket   a challenge for today perhaps.

What timescale?

Several entries for Richard G Pluss show up in Colorado.  Is it definitely Rickard?

Thank you CaroleW for reply

Timescale is unclear as yet.
The grandson(about 30) is in Australia. As he is living no reference can be made but I can find out whether Rickarde is his grandfather or father.
I have looked on Ancestry but no clues...
There is supposed to be a  town/village called PLUSS but I have searched in vain for that in Switzerland.
There is an umlaut over the U in Pluss.
Thank you
Turramurra.

A guide to the origin of many Swiss surnames is here https://hls-dhs-dss.ch/famn/index.php
Plüss comes from Canton Aargau, but could be from other places or countries.
My search of Swiss placenames is also negative, but Svenja may be along later to add her comments.

Thank you to all who have contributed to the PLUSS place and hopefully ancestors...
It is a mystery to me from far away Australia how those kind people from rootschat can find small needles in huge haystacks!!
I am fascinated by the help that rootschat offers...
What a team
THANK YOU
but I need to be searching the ancestors and with some digging they will come to light.

Not hard when you have a look at the many online details for dad:

The place mentioned by TreeSpirit is Vordemwald.

This may be nothing to do with your Plüss family, but have a look at this thread on GENEAL-FORUM: https://www.geneal-forum.com/phpbb/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=5139&p=88372&hilit=Plüss#p88372.  Our very own Svenja contributed.
